TECHNICAL
DESCRIPTION
The sludge and light mineral oil separator
mod. GN is a static system that provides for their separation by using the
hydrocarbons specific weight compared to water, before their discharging
into the drainage, the surface water or the subsoil.
It has a lamellar pack and a coalescence
filter. A power pack with an optional and acoustic alarm indicates
eventual emergency situations in the activation phase of the over
accumulation automatic closure system.
The manufactured article is made of plastic
reinforced by incorporated fibreglass (PRFV = polyester resin reinforced
by fibreglass), with inspection openings (n° 2 up to the mod. GN 50 and n°
3 in the following models) and hydraulic connections of PVC.
It is perfectly waterthightness and resistant
to the corrosive agents. it has a considerable mechanical resistance due
to the plastic reinforced by incorporated fibreglass characteristics.
It is waste water chemical components proof
and it can be filled in without being damaged because of the ground and
the external overload pressure.

APPLICATIONS

PRACTICAL
DESCRIPTION
The sludge and light mineral oil separator is
a static system that provides for their separation by using the different
specific weight of the hydrocarbons compared to water, before their
discharging into the drainage, the water surface or the subsoil.
The treatment provides for a sludge settling
phase and its following extraction of oil, as the hydrocarbons presence is
the only source of a systematic pollution.
Oil separation degree compared to water
depends on the liquid to separate density and on the respective particles
diameter, with the application of the low of Stokes to obtain the flowing
back speed of the same particles.
The water that comes from the Service Areas
forecourt used as car, road train and bus parking, and as fuel storage,
flows into the sludge separator where the flow is slowed down through a
bulkhead aiding in this way the sediment on the sand and sludge bottom.
The water passes into the oil separator where
the flow distributes in an uniform way and the light liquid with a bigger
dimension (oil and similar), because of the different specific weight,
goes up the surface producing a floating layer with a growing thickness. A
safety device, through an over accumulation automatic closure system,
doesn't allow the liquid to flow.
The smaller suspended particles of the light
liquid are kept from the lamellar pack and then from the coalescence
filter. They aggregate just for the phenomenon of coalescence producing an
oil pellicle that part reaching a some thickness and going up the surface
for the low of gravity.
Finally, inside the separator a survey system
is installed that, through an external power pack with an optical and
acoustic alarm, indicates the need of removal.
INSTALLATION
SCHEME
To install the SLUDGE AND LIGHT MINERAL OIL
SEPARATOR mod. GN it is necessary to provide for a gravel drainage on the
excavation bottom, so for a sand sediment bed with a thickness of about 20
cm (15 ~ 30 cm).
Moreover, it is necessary to arrange the
polyester resin reinforced by fibreglass manufactured article, to fill it
with water and than to fill it in with sand or other suitable dry
material.
- Arranging the sampling tank,
after the exit, for the sample withdrawal.
To assure that the manufactured article is
easy to transport it is necessary, during the structural phase, to provide
for some opportune structural reinforcements. Whereas, to install it the
following procedures have to be assured :
-
Excavation in condition of
tight trench (the excavation total width has to be twice smaller than the
diameter)
-
Manufactured article anchorage
through the apposite hooks (in case of slope)
-
Accurate tamping of the
buttress dry material
-
1.00 m manufactured article
minimum covering and not higher than 2.00 m
-
Additional storeys
installation on the manhole up to the roadway and cast iron manhole cover
housing (the separator manhole are two in the models up to GN 50 and three
in the models GN 65 and GN 80)
-
Adequate paving package
carrying out.
